Featuring Southern Gospel Music in Eastern North Carolina

The 2025 North Carolina State Annual Singing Convention will take place at the Benson Singing Grove in Benson, NC, with many regionally and nationally recognized Southern Gospel Music artists scheduled to take the stage during the three-day event, which takes place June 20, 21 and 22.

This year marks the 104th annual celebration for the event, making it one of the oldest Gospel music events in the state and quite possibly the entire country. The time-honored tradition began modestly in a tobacco warehouse in 1921 when about 200 people gathered to listen to two choirs sing that day. Over the years, the event has attracted thousands and hosted many of the most popular names in Gospel Music, including The Hoppers, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, Jeff & Sheri Easter, The Martins and The LeFevre Quartet, just to name a few.

Throughout the weekend, dozens of regional groups will be featured, as well as two of Southern Gospel Music’s most popular quartets, The Inspirations (pictured above), who will be the featured group on Saturday evening, June 21, as well as The Tribute Quartet, who will highlight the day’s list of groups on Sunday, June 22.

Festivities will kick off on Friday evening, June 20, at 7pm, much like they did 104 years ago with several multi-talented choirs taking the stage in the beautiful, picturesque oak grove in downtown Benson on Main Street. The list of choirs scheduled to be featured include the JoCo Community Choir, Midway Baptist Church Choir, Central Baptist Church Choir and the Wilmington Celebration Choir.

Music begins early on Saturday morning, June 21, at 10am with popular regional groups like Safe Haven, The Powell Family, The Oak Grove Boys, Hickory Grove Quartet, Black Creek and Willing Heart, just to name a few. Musical melodies will continue throughout the day with The Inspirations, one of Southern Gospel Music’s most legendary quartets, taking the stage at 7pm.

The weekend will conclude on Sunday, June 22, with a full slate of regional groups taking the stage beginning at 10:30am. Highlighting the day of music will be the popular multi-award winning Tribute Quartet, who will take the stage at 4pm.

A complete schedule of featured groups featured June 20-22 at the North Carolina State Annual Singing Convention is available at http://www.gospelsingingconvention.org. The event is free to the public. Some seating is provided; however, spectators and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and spend the weekend enjoying great Gospel music in the Grove!
